Loma Reqs debut album Qemirî („Sunburned“) is a daring collision of modern Kurdish poetry, electronic music, improvisation, rap, and traditional singing. Shifting from from ironic feminist wedding songs to raw refl Loma Reqs takes us on a journey from Kurdistan to outernational electronic territories, blending traditional sounds with Techno, Acid House, Reggaeton, heavy bass music, sequenced synthesizer loops and distorted Saz solo. It features as guest musicians the Tembûr (Sas)-virtuoso and the founder of Yazidi music group Koma Zerdeste Kal Memo KZK and Profesoro Eray Çaylı on drums. ections on national suppression and colonialism, the record stretches the limits of expression.
The duo has crafted a sound that feels both ancient and futuristic. Hêja’s piercing voice, rooted in Kurdish tradition, intertwines with Danta’s mastery of beats and synthesizers, forging a sonic language that speaks of supression, resilience, and joy. Across ten tracks—five originals and five reimagined covers— every song acknowledges survival and resilience, transforming struggle into rhythm, and memory into music. It’s an album about war and resistance and still extremely danceable and euphoric.
