Not OK Records is a record label based in Hamburg, Germany. Not OK Records releases outernational, new, and interesting music that originates in Hamburg and, at the same time, from all over the world. The initial idea behind Not OK Records is to be a small record label that produces locally and releases internationally.
Not OK Records is a counter-cyclical enterprise. Streaming platforms make it unnecessary for most people to buy music on physical media. Platform capitalism fends off those who create, play, and release music with crumbs. Not OK Records does not accept this. Not OK Records relies on you to buy our records and download our music, and on us finding ways to build our independent, sustainable DIY network.
Not OK Records is currently a one-person operation, founded by me, Christoph Twickel. I’ve been active as a DJ, musician, producer, radio host, and journalist since the early ’90s. Not OK Records was born out of my love for music.
